Spellbook (2025)
~ Helsche Boosheit vol. 2
During an artist residency at the end of August, queer artists from Groningen collaborated with religious LGBT+ people from the North to develop a spellbook with songs, spells, and recipes; a toolbox for dealing with a queerphobic world. The focus of this project is on creatively shaping everyday spirituality that contributes to the resilience of queer people in a world where hostility towards queer people is increasing.
During the symposium, the rituals and the spellbook will be presented, and various speakers will respond to the spellbook in their contributions. There will also be room for discussion. We will talk about the role that church professionals can play in facilitating safe spaces for queer people and how the spellbook can serve as inspiration for this.
